A sequel to "5 Reasons Why You're Spiritually Unhealthy" "And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."
It is with great pleasure and joy in my heart that I bring to you, at this special moment, our second publication. Though this “journey” just began, I am rather confident that God has a lot in stock for us under this commission. And I am likewise persuaded that His grace is sufficient to help us get the best of it. In our previous release, we considered a heart-gripping diagnosis of the state of our spirits. Just as promised, in this episode, it is expedient that we move on to look at the panacea to these highlighted problems.
But before I go on, there is a certain truth that I must expose us to. You see, when we talk about the security of our spiritual health, there is a certain foundation that cannot be done without. This foundation is seated upon two cornerstones: the Word and prayer. An average Christian knows that the Word of God and prayer are very key in his relationship with God. But in practical terms, some stumbling blocks deter us from reading our Bibles and praying and even so, daily. As wise Christians, we need to master how to meander around these stumbling blocks. So, with five quick tips, let’s shame this Devil and secure our salvation in safe quarters.
Stifle your distractions
I like to start off the list with the subject of distractions always because it is the most consequential in our generation. For one reason or the other, we are just too busy! There is too much happening here and there. But there is a point we all need to come to, where we are completely sincere; with God and with ourselves. You need to be pin-point clearly what your distractions are, grab them by the neck and kill them off. The problem is many of us underestimate these things and they eat away a good portion of our lives and fruitfulness. Until I got to that place of admitting the massive influence social media was having on me, I just smiled away while I kept underachieving in spite of the warnings from friends around. So, in a very cliched manner, permit me to remark, “Kill your distractions before they kill you.”
You Have Just One Lord
After you have killed off these little gods, you must recognize the Lordship of the One True God. You ought to love Him, with all your heart, soul and might. And this love needs to be evident in every area of your life. When you take God seriously, He will take you seriously too. Then in His promise, “He shall give His angels charge over you…In their hands, they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.”
Rest in Your Lord
I know we are humans and our minds wander a lot but if we permit ourselves to be tutored right, the divinity of Christ in us will trump this imperfection. It might sound overbearing, but we need to stop thinking about ourselves; about our weaknesses, strengths or whatsoever. It will bring ease to many areas of our lives because Jesus says that His yoke is easy. However, this is only possible when you realize that the life you live now is not yours.
Cherish Fellow Believers
There’s a certain work God is doing in the church collectively that He cannot achieve through us individually. We ought to recognize this and be a part of it. We really need to get the best from our fellowship together, edify one another and share the love that God places in our hearts. This is the only way we can be strong in faith and immovable in the day of evil.
Fight This Fight
Numerous times in the Scriptures, we, believers are referred to as soldiers. You never see a soldier just saunter into battle. He wields his armor and marches with the intention to slay. Oh, dear reader, you, go do the same!
Finally, it is my most pertinent heart’s desire that you stand firm for the Lord, living victoriously for our Master. And I know that He is mighty enough to achieve this in you. God bless! Don’t forget to subscribe.
